Oreo is sooo cool. How often do you feed Oreo?

Thanks! Usually about every three to four days.

Fuge Light Question:

I've only been able to find 2700k and 3000k locally at my Lowes, Home Depot and Wal*Mart stores. I believe that around 5000k is more desirable.

Am I right? Or will the 3000k be good enough? I want it for my Chaeto sitting in my fuge in the dark for the last month lol.

Yes, 5000 to 6500K would be preferable. 3000K may promote the growth of undesirable algae.

Spleen

Of course, if you can't find a 5000 - 6500K bulb, whatcha going to do? The bulbs are cheap enough that if you try the 3000K bulb and it causes problems, you can easily dump it and get another one. :D

Spleen

I don't know really... not sure where else to look. I guess I can try a farther away HD or Lowes. Maybe they will have one.

Man, I love Oreo!! For some reason I keep thinking an eel would be a "not such a good idea" for a reef tank! But I want one so bad, you dont have any problems with Oreo do you? I have 6 shrimps in my tank. Do these guys eat shrimp?

Oreo is way cool. You don't see eels in too many reef tanks. I like that.

I would have thought they would want to eat your fish, but I suppose you don't have anything small like clowns for him to munch on.

(I added new pics on my tank thread..click the house!)

Hey NanoGurl!

Just wanted to say that I absolutely love looking at the working you are doing... especially what is below the tank. I was wondering if I could trouble you with the inside demensions of your cabinet. I am starting a 75 gallon soon and am in the intense planning phase (as this is my first large scale reef). Love the tank! Keep it going and good luck with the move!

Any problem with the eel and nitrates? I had a snowflake before in an old set up, and I'm so tempted to get one in my current tank.

Moray eels are naturally crustacean and not fish eaters. So depending on your definition, they're actually quite reef safe. The issue is the bioload. But if you don't feed them on a regular basis, it is slightly possible that fish will come up with missing.

It's possible yea he'll eat your shrimp, or a few of them. He doesn't bother my fire shrimp, but I'm'guessing that's more bc he's a cleaner then just a shrimp. Naturally they eat shrimp and crustaceans.

He doesn't bother anything in my tank. His worse issue is knocking corals and rocks over which will get worse as he gets bigger. He doesn't do it on purpose, just by moving around the tank.

He's very cool =)

I have four small fish in there.. two clowns, a six line wrasse, and a purple fire fish. He doesn't bother any of them. Zebras are not fish eaters and I don't think he could catch them if he tried. They are very slow and lazy eels.

Yea, def having issues with nitrates. Eels are very dirty. Combine that with a PBT and it's def an issue!

Thanks! Sure, I will measure it for you tonight and post the size for you.
