Nanostream 6025 Problem

Mmmmm it is starting to sound like a broken record - my nanostream 6025 also sucks water in until I put my hand in front of the grill. I just purchased this from my LFS and because it has been past the 7 days I was told to contact the vendor. Not happy at all.

Usually a backwards rotation is a simple problem. Check that the shaft is firmly in the pump, it should not come loose, if so, the problem is likely a tight fitting drive unit. I can send a replacement if that is the case.

Hello Roger,
I just took it apart and made sure the shaft was firmly in and it was. I plugged it back in and same thing. Sorry for being a little harsh with my first post but I was hoping for a flawless product and was willing to pay more to get it. When that didn't happen and after talking to my LFS - I was very disappointed. I'd rather not go without the pump because of my SPS in my tank, but I do understand if that is not the case.

Thank you very much for your very prompt response,

Carol

No problem, it sounds like the only problem is a too tight fitting drive unit. I can send another. I think you will find that your drive unit (prop assembly) doesn't easily slide off the shaft, there is probably a lot of drag. It has to be able to slide off the shaft to reverse, it reverses by flying out when it spins backwards. I can explain why you have this problem and it is our fault and we will fix it. The first pumps tended to hum and rattle, some of the drive units were too loose. Like every other drive magnet these are made in China, you can imagine it takes weeks to get new magnets from China to Germany by sea. As an interim solution we tempered the plastic, plastic is compressed when it is molded so if you gently heat it for a long period of time it "relaxes". These were then drilled to the correct spec but such a process is not perfect. The new ones just arrived at the factory about 3 weeks ago. In some cases the fit of these older ones was too tight, often they work themselves out with a few days of wear in. No matter, I can send a new drive unit to you if you just PM me the address to send it to. I just wanted you to understand how this happened and we have already resolved it.

Roger,
thanks for explaining this to me. Trust me I understand completely. It sounds like you guys have had your hands full with this little one - LOL. It has been in my tank for a few weeks so it really doesn't seem to be going away. To be honest I really wouldn't have even noticed except this is the pump I turn off and on at feeding time. Thank you very much again and I'll pm you with my address.

Thanks again,
Carol
