I have had a nanostream for about 4-5 months and it rattles constantly. It is by far the loudest piece of equipment in my 75g.
I have read that these problems are associated with the early batches and have now been corrected. What do I need to do to have mine fixed?
thanks,

Have you taken the pump apart? If not see if the impeller shaft is still mounted firmly or does it come out?

Hey Bobby,

I had the same issue with my 6025s. I PMd Roger and he had me send me the pumps and swapped them out.

I also had the shaft come out on mine. Again, Roger advised me I could glue it back in place and it would not void my warranty. If I did not feel comfortable with doing that he offered to exchange the pump.

If your streams are 4-5 months old I would assume they are from the early batches which have seen some trouble. I would PM Roger. I bet he'll help you out.

Mirkus, on the 6045 I have not seen a shaft come out of the socket but I have seen some that the shaft snapped due to the steel being brittle. We would need to replace the motor if that is the case.

Bobby, send me a PM and we will arrange replacement.

I don't understand what you mean by the shaft comes out of the socket. My steel shaft is loose. Is it supposed to be permanently connected to the propeller housing? Mine doesn't rattle but I can take the steel shaft out. Is mine broken?

Can somebody please show me a picture of a broken one. My entire drive assemby including the steel shaft can be completely removed. I'd hate to send mine back to find out that it is not broken.

Your pump is broken, the shaft should be permanently part of the motor and not removable.

nano 6025 problems also

I am new to this forum. I was on the Tunze website looking for a answer to my problem I was having with the Tunze 6025. From the Tunze web I got this forum to go to and this has been very helpful in researching the problems I was having with the 6025's. I got 2 of them back in Dec and another one in Jan. Out of the 3, 2 of them are rattling like crazy, either the propellers wouldn't start or they would start by coming way out and then back in several times before finally starting with alot of rattling. I just found out by reading the comments on this forum that the shaft is suppose to be permanetely attached and the shafts on the 2 6025 are not. I kept taking it apart to clean them and couldn't figure out why they were doing that and now I know. This forum is great and I will be checking out the rest of the forums here. I have already e-mailed Roger and will be so glad to get this resolved. I love the power heads despite the problems and the one I did get in Jan is working great so hopefully I won't have a problem with that one.
