ok i purchased the 6025 and installed it yesterday. my plan is to put it on a timer where it shuts off from 11pm till about 10am. today i woke up and all my sand below the 6025 got blown away. :eek1: i have the pump half way through my tank pointing up. it seemed like when it turned on it was blowing the other way.

so tonight after work i did some testing. i turned it on then it was fine. i turned it off and back on again then it made a chattering sound and started blowing the sand below again. turned it off and back on again then its fine again....it does this randomly. i noticed too that the when its chattering the propeller shoots forward and hits the guard. it will still turn but it will start blowing off the sand. did i get a bad unit or does any of you guys have experienced this? should i return it to the store i got it from

thanks!

The chatter is normal. Leave it run wear in for about a week and try the turning off and on again. When new the occasionally start in reverse(it is the path of lease resistance). Also take the impeller out and see if there is extra lubricant left on from the dry test done at the factory as can cause this at times when new as well.

ok thanks shawnz....will leave it running then. if there are any lubricants should i take it out then???

thnx again

Shawn is correct, the pump should correct its direction within a few seconds. When new however, the pump may need to wear in and seat a bit. They do a dry test run with a small amount of vaseline and this can also cause a problem for the pump to start the right way. Wiping off the excess and letting the pump run for a week without switching, usually solves the problem.
