It was great seeing some of our local members there. I didn't make last years, but this years to me was pretty nice. They has some great raffles and door prizes. Logan won enough of salinity salt to last him for several water changes. Dzones won a nice coral tank and few other door prizes. I won a huge clam they were selling for 90.00 and a calcium reactor that was awesome. They had a lot of nice corals and frags seemed to be a great turn out

Logan could win the lottery and not even purchase a ticket. Note to self. Take Logan to horse track, Vegas, etc....

Yep was a great swap and just like I said I was gonna come home with the prizes haha.
The $300 frag tank by Reef Saavy was a great win!
Brent and the Pellet reactor at $250 and Logan with the couple pails of Salinity reef salt valued at well over 100 bucks
I think the JARC group rocked the prizes with me at 3, Brent at 2, Logan at 2 and David H at 1.

I will post pics come Monday of my prizes, corals and other goodies.

Was great to also meet Nanodoc and wife (and acquaintance) as well. Always great to put faces to RC handles.

nice fragswap!
Now I wish I bought that blue hairy mushroom with those neonblue tips. one vendor had 3 different seriatopora growing on one plug, and the scolymias are wonderful.
But I will be changing tanks soon, so have to be patient.
There is a fragswap in Knoxville (long drive!) on June 16th- just tell your wife you are picking up your father's day gift there.
great to meet JARC members there, can't wait to have the meeting at Dzones where he will serve beef borguignone washed away with Chateau Rothschild, or was it fried blue Tang with ick?
Missed you there , Matt.

I bought a huge sun coral, few acro's, huge frog spawn, nice sized frag of acans, few other nice pieces that I didn't wanna try when I had the 150s. Looked at everything this morning after about 15 min after lights came on everything coming out nice. Frog spawn was completely opened within min.

nice!
I acclimated the 20+ pieces I got also but won't get a chance to see them until later today when I go to the store to check on them.
I will post pictures when they are out.
I also snagged a couple goodies from Aquatic Critter. Hard not to go into that place when the swap was literally around the corner AND they handed out 15% off for swap attendees.

I know what you mean Dzones I bought that led system that was like over the frag tank you won and it's awesome I will post pictures soon

Can you believe I didn't buy not a single frag,my wife almost passed out.I just didn't see anything I could put in my 28. lol

it's a sps , small polyps starting to come out, pinkish in color.
it looks like a deep water acropora with fewer polyps. I didn't remember what he told me in passing because he was busy selling other frags
snakeman, there isn't much room in a 28 , I know!

My biggest beef with the frag swap this year was almost every vendor had LED lighting and they all had pure actinic bulbs only on.
Not one coral will look the same when you bring it home and place it in your tank which can be a huge letdown for people who buy and are expecting something close to what they saw in the show.
I felt, compared to previous years, the vendors did not seem to move a lot in their tanks as most were fairly full at the end during takedown.
Not sure but the whole whacky lighting was enough for me to not buy more than what I did. Half of what I got was from a guy who just wanted to get rid of all he had so I got 10 frags for 50 bucks.

And what the heck was up with the anemone pricing this year???
I mean 75 bucks for the cheapest RBTA?

Dave, I will be contacting you later this week. I need to drop that Neon Green Candy Cane by your shop. Sounds like all had fun at the swap. Going to have to wait until after Nick gets married to set up my new 30 cube, since I have no idea how to plumb the darn thing or set up the leds I got to go over it. Barrett made me an awesome custom sump.

Sounds great Vicki, thanks!
I have always been more than happy with the work Barrett has done for me in the past as well.

I am like you dave, all the blue lighting just makes it hard to buy a coral not knowing what it will look like under regular lighting.I think people spent more money on raffle tickets than corals.
