Naso W/Ich

I purchased a Naso Tang from a SW/FW LFS who weeks before showed signs of ICH in their system. Now, I had purchased 10 green chromises from them at an earlier date but after six weeks in QT they did not show any signs of ICH. So I have been waiting for ICH to pop up on my latest addition and it has after about three weeks in QT. I guess I will begin the HYPO treatment for this little guy. I have done this succesfully in the past, so I will do it again. Will running hypo wipe out my biological filter in the QT? I am assuming so, and that numerous water changes are needed to remove ammonia build up.

I don't think hypo will kill off the biological filtration. I think it will slow it down so watch your feeding amount. I do know that maintaining PH in hypo is a PITA......So have plenty of buffered hypo water ready for regular water changes. Keep it at 1.009

Ok, so I saw white spots on the pectoral fins of the tang but nowhere else, the next day the spots weren't there. Was it ich? It was only on the fish for 1 day. He has been eating good but breathing heavily ever since I got him. Could it be something else? He is in a 20long with a sump, about 30 gal total. A biowheel filter running in case I need to separate the sump. This hosp tank has been set up for 6 mos or so.

I ask myself the same question. I currently have a blueline angel in QT with white spots on his pectoral fins....My initial thought was flukes. I am waiting it out to see.

It might be worth while for you to try a PraziPro treatment.

What is a PraziPro treatment? My Purple Tang had Ich about 6months back and used this stuff called FishKeeper in a FOWLR, believe to be reef friendly, and it kicked the Ich pretty fast.

I am not saying to use prazi for ich. He stated the naso has white on his pectoral fins and nowhere else.

Ok, five days later and conditions are getting worse. When I came home Monday evening the fish had what looked like a bruise forming on its belly. I looked and bought some maracyn 2 and started a treatment because that is what I read as a treatment for internal parasite that makes a bruise looking area and it must be internal bleeding or something like that. Here are crappy pics. the fish is worse looking and its grey body is splochy purple and whitish and will not eat at all. before today he was pretty active but not now. Oh heck I'll have to load pics later. I don't think he has ick
