Naso w/ "Popeye"

One of my naso's eye is really cloudy now and I'm pretty sure it's "popeye." Is there anything I can do to help him? It sucks watching him swim around sick. I have been told to keep him in the tank b/c moving him will just irritate him extremely. Any medications you recommend? I feel bad for him .

a lot of times it is caused by stress put him in another tank if possible.. medication like melafix may "treat" it but i bet stress caused it..

Popeye is generally selflimiting IME in a strong fish. Keep the fish well fed. Optimize tank conditions. Feed an antibiotic food if you can find one--sparingly and try to direct it to the naso--granted if the fish isn't eating you're in trouble.

Are you back in town and is the vlamingi healthy?

Yes, I still have the Vlamingi. The Naso is in my tank in Santa Barbara. I will head to the LFS tomorrow and see what I can do. Chuck, I will be in L.A. tomorrow night if you wanna stop by, or if you have time Tuesday that would be better. LMK.. thanks.

My blue tang, and my coral beauty both had popeye over the years... I just kept feeding, kept em healthy and it went away every time.

I think sometimes it is due to injury, but when I switched to the bigger tank. all the popeye went away.

Make sure your water quality is really, really good. It will make all the difference in hes healing.
