how many nassarius snails would be too much if there is a thing for a 135g. i live in florida and i can catch these guys like crazy. i currently have around 200 nassarius and cerith snails(wont be adding anymore-lol) and 10 serpent stars. is that too much? sorry if this question sounds idiotic but i must say my sandbed has never been so clean. thanks for any advice.

Nassarius feed on carrion, not detritus. You need as many as it takes to keep your sand free of dead animals and uneaten food. That should be about 1/10 of your number or less.

THis is crazy to many. They will starve to death and slowly. In a reef tank you awnt a balance. I think a sandsifting goby and mb 5 to 10 nass snails would be prefect. Besides the load you would be removing from the system. Plus collecting them from the beach or close to is not a good idea.

Im going to say this for your benifit and mean no disrespect but with the fact you just threw in 100 nass snails without knowing why its to many then you need to rethink what your doing and research the hobby more. You will have a much better experiance with a better understanding and knowledge of what your tank needs for best control.
