i painted mine a blue, just make sure to tape it well or you'll get specs of blue paint everywhere! its annoying!

i just bought a 5.5 gallon tank and am about to do everything you did on this post. I realize it was a while back but hopefully i can ask you some questions about it...mainly about the lighting. Im broke as a joke so am looking at alternative to paying $100 plus for a retrofit and bulbs

yeah man if you r going with pc's its really simple. just go to home depot get as many sockets as you want bulbs. the man thing is make sure that have a way to mount to your hood. and a open ended pwer cord. pretty much just wire them all together and youre done. you can get the screw in pc blubs that come in 10wtt and 20wtt at pretty much and fish or universal pet store.

what color did you end up painting the black. i went with black on my tank. i think it look good.
