I know nothing about these as far as aquariums go. I know some public aquariums have them, does anyone keep them in home aquariums? Is it even possible?

Possible? Probably, but I don't think it would be worth it. You just have to remember that these are animals that live in very deep water, and it can be very hard to replicate the temperature and lighting that these guys are used to. I think I've heard that even public aquariums have trouble keeping them, so I would say don't try it.

Basically, they need colder water because they are from deeper, and I think they also need fairly large tanks, but they don't really do anything so I've never seen the interest. You could if you really wanted to, but to me it doesn't feel like it's worth it.

The Waikiki Aquarium keeps them and has even had a couple of sucessful breedings. I've seen the exhibit, the tank is very large (sorry, can't remember how big, looked like about 200+ gallons but I could be wrong) and kept very dark and cool for them. The usual reef aquarium would kill them.

Their biology is interesting, but not their activity. They just float there in the middle of the tank.
