Mark your calendars for February 24th -26th. The Raleigh Aquarium Society will be having its 22nd annual aquarium workshop and auction. Friday night is dedicated to reef aquariums. There will be frag trading and a silent auction of various live corals. Sunday is the big auction where anyone can buy or sell. This would be a great time to unload all those frags that have been building up in your system.

Details are on the website at:

One update that I did notice is that Ken Stockton will be giving a DIY presentation instead of Brian Ferguson.

Hope to see lots of reefers there..LOL

If anyone would like to have some brochures or a poster mailed to them, please send me a PM. Any support from other clubs, stores, etc. would be greatly appreciated, and we will gladly return the favor. We will have a "Support Your Local Fish Store" table set up at the workshop, because we believe that without local shops to get new people interested in the hobby, we would not have the growing number of hobbiests that we have today. If any aquarium related business in the NC area would like to include promotional material about their business on this table, please send me a PM. Thanks, Brandon Berry

i know its to late to go to the worksshop and you probably wont get this post, but i live in raleigh and i am looking to get involved in some clubs or meet some other reefers to trade frags with at the very least
would appreciate it if you have any general input on this topic

The Raleigh Aquarium Society Meets tonight. We always meet the first Thursday of the month, unless it is a holiday. Our meetings are held at the NCSU Vet School at 7:30pm. Go to www.raleighaquariumsociety.com for more details. Also you can visit the Raleigh Aquarium Society Yahoo Group for the latest information:

We have a mixture of freshwater and marine hobbiests and try to alternate our meeting topics as such.

Two other clubs in the area are the Marine Aquarium Society of the Carolinas and the Raleigh Area Reef Entusiasts. You can find out more about them by joining their Yahoo Groups.

I just want to say that the 22nd Annual Aquarium Workshop was a great success. We a some very generous donations from local shops as well as manufacturers. Everyone that came had the opportunity to go away with some really nice stuff. Our speakers Friday night were wonderful and everyone seemed to learn a lot. Our auction Sunday was so big that it took until after 10pm Sunday night to finish auctioning everything off. Those that stayed until the end were able to get some great deals. I hope to see even more people next year, and hopefully those that did not make the workshop can come out to a meeting.
