NCPARS Event is open on FragSwapper.com

IF you really want to help contact Ron(sixpackrt) on RC he is in charge of the swap because it is in his location.

I am sure he can use the help!

I am looking forward to it ALL, I know we have been doing alot of the behind the scenes things getting this one ready early so it should be a good swap with lots of things to do. Raffle, speaker, demos, and more!!!

OH, I forgot to add, don't forget it will be election time again!

and no we will not accept any hanging chads!

So not to be a total noob, if your not brining corals etc does the fragswapper serve any purpose other then showing that your going?
I plan on being there, and becoming a member, and plan on buying some corals probably Zoo's and any hardy types... so should I do anything other then show up? Thanks

Once you register, you can list your frags on the fragswapper. This way you can show people what you have for trade, and people can request them, and reserve them. It makes it easy to manage who requested what, what is available, etc.

sanjay.

Fragswapper keeps track of how many people are planning on coming. This gives NCPARS an idea of how much food to have as well as make sure there are enough chairs and etc.

It shows everyone what you are selling/trading, you can also view all other items for sale and trade.

You can see all members who have registered and can ask them questions about their corals they have for sale such as lighting, placement, etc...

You can preorder or arrange trades through fragswapper so that you have first dibs on what someone is bringing.

Once all trades and sales have been made there is a screen called my trades that lists everyone who requested from you.

You can print this out so you can mark bags and have it all organized. It really is a nice site for bigger fragswaps!

I think the biggest purpose to a total noob with nothing to BRING would be to REQUEST....

There are a lot of folks that won't frag a coral if it's not already spoken for; this means that some of the best stuff won't be there "for sale" because what is brought is already "sold"....Unless you luck out and the person buying doesn't show, but that doesn't happen often to us...from what I've seen anyway.

There are still plenty of folks who setup tanks with stuff that's not listed as well as some folks that bring extra of what's listed, but if there is something you REALLY want you should request it on FragSwapper.com.

...It also helps the person buying food to prepare so either way get your name in. :)

Ok, I'm getting there, thanks for the pointers guys, though I think I sent bmkindig an erronious email :eek2: But I put in for a couple requests, so I hope I did it correctly.

hey critter,
yes you sent me a funny email, go to edit your profile and list what you might be looking for on there and then it will show up on the page before the frags listed.it's easy to use once you get setup.

also if for anyone that registers in advance and have your membership dues paid in advance and it will cut down on the admin time required at the door, and can save some headaches the day of.
thank you

There is something strange with fragswapper.

It shows on the LHS list that RandyO has 1 frag listed. Yet when I click on his name, there are a lot of frags listed by him.

Fizz, you might want to check and see what the problem is.

Not sure how you saw that Sanjay..I see 4 frags and 4 listed. I will say this..the numbers on the left are cached...that means it doesn't go out and find how many listings there are every time you show the page...BUT..it's suppose to re-cache it every time somebody adds an item. I did that to limit how often it hits the database since...if you remember the ORIGINAL fragswapper pages...too much database accessing slows down a site.

Either way..the cache eventually caught up..maybe I missed the cache reset with whatever method he used to add those listings.

I did start out with only one listing, and then added the other 3 a day or two later. It finally caught up. :)

There have been people submiting requests for my frags and I have not gotten any notification, I did work for the first couple of requests but not for the last few.

Also, through the email link I have sent emails to a few people and not hear back from anyone since the request email stopped.

Could there be something wrong or maybe the email relay not working?

Greg

you got PM.

ok, this will probably be my last question lol... but when someone posts they have say 4 frags of something and you put in a request, how does it know you only want 1 or how does it know you want 3 of said item? Or, if you want more then one, are you suppose to send a email/pm etc? do you guys assome 1 if no other number is specified? thanks

This has been a problem before too. Just send a PM/email.

yeah seems the program is almost there.. if they could just add a quantities box next to the "request this item" button it would be cool... then once you have been accepted, it could show you instead of "This Item Has Already Been Promised To You" it could read, "X of This Item Has Already Been Promised To You" yadda yadda yadda. ;)

This is an issue Kevin has a solution for but would require alot of rewriting of the original programming.

He is going to tinker with it but he hasn't had much time, plus its still free for clubs to use still. Once there are more clubs using it and paying/donating for the service/cost of programming it will get rewritten for sure!
