I eventually want to rewrite the whole site, but understand that I pay for EVERYTHING and ask for NOTHING in return. If I ever get a free couple of months I'll rewrite it.
Anyway...the email not working is something that...every time I look into it...is caused by the receiver's service and I can't do anything about it....It happens for one of two reasons:
1. My website hosting company's server has been blacklisted by the receiver's hosting company because other users from my server (not my site) abuse it to spam people. There are thousands of websites hosted by my hosting company so it's tough to control. It took me MONTHS to get AOL to take my server off the blacklist a few years back since they can't tell the difference between me and the spammer since we both come from the same server. I won't go through that again, so I don't bother digging into why emails don't get through anymore as long as SOME people get them, I know it's nothing I can control.
2. Your personal spam filter snags my emails..this usually happens when swap administrators send out "bulk mail" to attendees.
It's tough to get a stable email system out there that just "works"...most personal mailing lists I'm on I have to specifically set rules to keep them out of my spam folder. Luckily Yahoo mail doesn't seem to go the "blacklist" route like so many other services offer. These spam services think they're helping to keep spam out, but they also block good mail too and don't let you choose. I've never had that happen to me on Yahoo! though..that's why it's my primary email. I still miss things..but they're in my BULK folder so I can atleast get to them if I know to look and then setup a rule to allow it into my main folder. Belive it or not I have special rules setup so my fragswapper mail gets to me.
As for the requesting of multiple items....that's something I didn't think about when I wrote the current system so it doesn't fit into the architecture without a major re-write. You would think just adding a quantity would be simple but I have to handle some details like what happens if I ask for 4 and there are only 3 left, but I only want it if I can have 4..otherwise I only want 2...yada yada yada...that's only one example. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it's more work than I want to put into something I already want to rewrite.
For now..we just have to live with what we have which is still FAR superior to 50 page threads...which we use to get!

FYI...I go to a training camp for the software language I want to rewrite the site in next month...I don't want to rewrite in the language it's in now! So maybe this summer I'll have some time..but with the kid on the way who knows.
