NCPARS/That Fish Place Winter Frag Event - Jan. 31, 2009

Scott, does it cost anything for table space if people are bringing small tanks with frags? I know one or two people have asked me about this.
Thanks.
Matt

Hi, there is no special cost for table space, small tanks, etc., just the cost of admission ($5 member, $10 non-member).

We say "doors open at 11" but if you are setting up a tank I think you will be able to come a bit earlier, that will help avoid an 11 AM rush.

How are the raffles handled. Sell raffle tickets at the event and you can place as many as you want for specific items or each payed addmission gets a ticket to place.

Usually the first way you said, buy as many tickets as you want and put as many as you would like for each item offered.

Typically, it goes like this...

1. You buy a ticket, or as many tickets as you want to buy.

2. Place them in a dish for a specific item you want to try to win.

3. I buy tickets for said items.

4. I place them in the buckets for the said items.

5. Someone draws a ticket.

6. It happens to be mine and I win.

That's how raffles at swaps go.

:-)

That is what I figured but was not sure. Sometimes its just 1 per admission. (not frag swaps, but other things... i was on memorial day parade planning board, and we had admission raffles and extra pay raffles for the good things =) )

I just say that because I always do raffles, and I always win stuff. I love it. At the first club meeting at Bobby's I did the raffle for the reactor Bobby made, just to see if I could win...I did. I made him pull another name. ;-)

You are so right bro, you missed it last year at the fair the damn "carnie" running the one game totally had me all confused and feeling suckered, I ended up spending like $30 for 3 tiny stuffed animals for the kids(I was like "What the hell just happened?"- the $30). I plan on at least trying this time around. Have a good one guy.

Hi, it will be like at our swaps. We'll have some signs up so it's clear at the event. You buy raffle tickets and place them in cups for specific items.

Raffle tickets for most items will cost $1. For the $700 and $900 aquarium setups, and I believe the Vor-tech pump, the raffle tickets will be $5.

Normally our raffles are "must be present to win" but TFP has said they think they may be able to hold items overnight if someone can't be there for the raffle. We're trying to figure out which way we can do it.

Talking about luck.. My luck would involve me placing a ticket in a cup and a overhead light would let loose and hit me upside the head.

Or even closer, I win something like the aquarium and it explodes on the drive home.... Now that is my luck.

hmmm so for fear that my horrible luck rubs off, stay clear. but then again I may improve the luck of those that think they have bad luck. who knows.

reeftard, which raffles are you going in for? I don't have much in the way of luck (or money) so I shouldn't even go up against you.

I never reveal my raffle secrets. You'll have to wait and see. ;-)

Well, my plans for that weekend have changed, and I no longer will be able to attend the swap. I have to install a hardwood floor for a friend of mine, and that's the only weekend available. Have a great time everyone, and learn as much as you can, so I can learn it from you.

Sorry to hear that Joel. Is there anything you were really looking for, maybe someone can pick something up for you if you were really needing to add something to the tank, you can come up here too whenever to pick up a few goodies. Have a good one, talk to you sometime soon.
Matt

I really wasn't going to get anything besides learning a few things. Think I'll stop up next week to give your book back...and maybe take a few things off you hands if you can spare something :)
