I was setting up a 180 gallon reef when I got sick and was unable to follow through. I have 180 lbs of BRS Pukani Dry Rock that was left sitting in
salt water with no circulation or aeration for a few months. Some are cover with a blackish coating. Is there a way to recover this rock? Or is it garbage?

Thank You
Scott

More than likely you can just get some circulation going in there and see how it goes..
Its certainly cycled now but the salinity may be excessively high now if you didn't top off with fresh water to make up for evaporation..
or
If you want to be safe you can just drain it all, wash off the rock (power washer/hose,etc..) and restart again..

A picture of said "blackish coating" may help..

But the rock is certainly not garbage and will just take a little work to clean off and start again

I agree, ...power spray until all the black coating is gone and then place it on some towels and let it air dry for a few weeks. It will look like new and you can reboot. Welcome back and glad your on the mend.
