you need to stick airline tube in to the U tube and suck out the air till its gone if there just a few littile one you can lift the tube up about a 1/2 in and bang int down and itll knck the remaining bubbles out you are flirting with disater with that running that way

I agree you need to get the air out like DiscoReefrover mentioned.

If you continuously get air trapped in the u-tube you may need to increase the flow through the tube. This helps sweep any bubbles out of the tube and stops them from collecting. The only way to do this is to increase flow from your sump.

When I used overflow boxes that is how I solved it.

I have already gotten so many mouth fills of salt water. I cant take it.. there is still tiny bubbles about the size of a thumb nail that just will not come out..

bubbles out now but now my water level is prob 1/8 in from the trim of the tank.. will it be fine do you think ill have a flood??

Hi,

Typical U tube problem. I think you need more pump power to keep pushing the air out of the U tube. I have been using U tubes for over ten years and the only thing I found to help was to increase the pump gph. You can also just shake the U tube very quickly while its in place and the air bubbles should pass through the tube. I keep my water level about at the bottom of the plastic rim of my tank as your looking into the tank. Did you mean 1/8 from an overflow? If yes, you need to lower you box inside of the tank a little to bring down your water level. There is usually a adjusting screw that connects the inner & outer overflow box. Use this to adjust the water level inside your tank. Don't forget to re-tighten the screw after your done. Hope this helps.

I was going to help but every one already took all my ideas. I hate going last. Hav had these problems before, the steps you got were the ones I had to learn. So good luck on finding more good people with good info.
