Need a new Reliable & QUIET retrun pump

Hi everybody! I am new to the forum. I've just picked up a 120 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump. I have the Iwaki 40rxt and it makes too much noise. I'm looking to replace it with a quieter pump without losing reliability. Also, I can't have it bigger in size than the pump I have now.

I'm thinking about DC pumps but not sure how good they are compared to AC pumps. One of the names I was looking into is the DEEPWATER Aquatics. My main concern is that the thread is BSP and I'm not sure how good it will fit with MPT. Any input will be greatly appreciated. :fish1:

Hard to beat the tried and true Eheim 1262 which is what I use on my 120. The new DC pumps are more efficient and the higher quality ones run quiet also, but as far as long term battle tested Eheim makes great reliable pumps.

Which one would be the best replacement for my Iwaki 40rxt*? I also need it to be the same size my cabin is limited.

I have 3 of the deep water pumps, bought spare just in case which was easy since they are less than half cost of reeflo etc.. Haven't needed it. I'm actually really liking them. Electricity savings is ridiculous.

Had about 6 months now probly closer to a year. I'm pumping from a basement sump and the tank upstairs is also about 6 feet high so there's a good amount of head. I do run it on full blast most of the time but it does very well at less than half the energy of the reeflo I was using before. It's also nice to be able to turn it down without having to turn it off.

Also mine is the db8 if I remember correct. I also used it to replace an external, and I'm running it submerged now as it was just easier. And as far as the pipe thread, you use American thread and just use Teflon tape. That's per the manufacturers instructions.

Triggreef sorry I was asking two questions.
1-Is the deep water pump the same size as my Iwaki pump.
2- Eheim 1262 a external pump.

I know now Eheim 1262 is a external pump just trying to figure out which pump is a better way to go with.

Dave: you can look at the models of the pumps yourself and compare if the inlet/outlet sizes are similar, as well as measurements.

Take a look at the ecotech Vectra pumps. Seriously. bulkreefsupply.com

SICCE Syncra Silent. I have the 2.0 and it is dead silent. no hum at all. Has nice suspended feet to keep it from touching the glass. I had an Eheim and it had a hum that I couldn't get rid of, it drove me crazy.
