I just broke my mag7 return pump while intstalling my new sump, I need a replacement ASAP for a few days until i can purchase a replacement pump and or parts. If anyone has a pump that has the equivelant flow i can use for a few days, or purchase really cheap, i would be in your debt. I dont have the 90 bucks for a new mag. The tank needs to get my tank circulateing, please help! i am in south sacramento.

Well, i got the pump half working, but i still need a replacement pump. If anyone has one that flows 700gph+ for cheap, LMK. I have grown tired of the mag for a few months now, and this has broke the camels back. I broke the houseing where they injection molding seam was, so i drove to aquaworks and got a replacement part for 25 bucks. While installing the new part, it broke in the EXACT same spot. The injection mold seam. An manufacuring flaw i suppose. I have it running internal so id doesnt leak, but it puts off to much heat. I do not want to pay ANOTHER 25 bucks just to break a crappy part, so i need a cheap external if i can find one. please LMK.

bobby,

i have a mag 7 i don't know whats wrong with it (got it for free). i bought a new impeller hoping it would work. still don't know whats wrong with it. maybe this solves your problem if you put the two working parts of the 2 pumps together. you can have it for free. i live in s. sac also so its not far from you.

Hey great. I got a temporary from peter a few hours ago, but i still neen a pump. I would gladly take your old one for parts, i need the front intake houseing. I was talking to peter and he has had the same problems, on all the mag pumps. But its mag or nothing for right now ;). PM me and i will pick it up tomarrow if you are free. I will post some pics of my new DIY sump tomarrow.

Bobby -

I have had the same problem with Mag pumps. Also - their impellers are two pieces and are prone to breakage in stop/start situation. I called their customer support and was less than impressed with their support.

I personally like the Ehiem pumps. They seem well built.

I am getting a lot of comments with the same problem. I cant belive i broke 2 in the same molding line, i also got charged triple because the took it off a pump on the shelf, so they could pay to order a new one. I repaired the crack with acyrilic glue so i will still be able to use it for water transfers and other tasks. Hopefully someone has a nice external for sale at the MARS Yard Sale next saturday.
