Need a tang ID

Hey all, a few weeks back my boss and I were at a wholesaler and came across these guys labeled Thompson tangs, my boss was convinced they were not and bought them just to see what they will grow up into :crazy1:

also apologies, my phone is the only camera I had on me at the time

Its currently living in a 400 gallon tank so I'm sure it will be fine but i'm just curious what this guy is. He started out purely that shade of blue with the horizontal stripes but they have slowly become more defined and he is getting a yellow spot around the eye now after a few weeks. any ideas?

Looks like Acanthurus mata, they get huge.

ya looks like a mata tang to me as well. good thing you have a 400! they grow very rapidly as well.

Yea I think you nailed it. wow he will be even pushing this 400 gallon tank!

and yes, he is growing very quickly, from a tiny 2 inch to almost 5 I would say in the maybe month its been in the 400 gallon
