Hi everyone(clam experts and clam lovers)!

I have a 10 gallon nano-reef and it's been up and running for 2 months already.

The LFS in my area has just brought in some nice clams and I've always wanted to get one. I need to know if it's safe to get a clam as i want it to be healthy. I'm running 96W PC lights on my 10 gallon.

The clams are only 1 inch in size and there are 2 kinds for sale.

They have a gold crocea clam and maximas. They also have a multi-colored maxima but that's kinda outta my budget(not that the other clams are any cheaper...:p

Any advice would be much appreciated! If I do get the clams, I plan to place them as close to the light as possible too.

96W on a 10 would allow you to keep a maxima alive, but still not thriving. You just cant get the same colors on a maxima without MH. But I really cant recommending keeping any clam in a 10gallon. Any clam will outgrow it and if you feed it in the tank, your water quality would definatly go down.

But if you must get one, Go for a gold colored maxima. Those require less intense lights than the blues and ultras.

Well, after asking around, I decided not to get a clam for reasons because of my lighting...

Thanks jedininja...I'll probably get a clam only if i upgrade to MH...
