Hi i just bought my first anemone. Its a H. crispa. I know they are not considered good first anemones but i saw it at a pet store near me and it was doing great. It was even under only compact flourescents and it was thriving. It had its column buried, wasnt bleached and fully open. It has beautiful blue tips too. Its acclimated and has been in the tank for about 2 and a half hours. Its starting to open and its column is starting to bury in the sand. I put it under flourescents for about 1 hour and now i have the halides on. Was that too soon? What/when/ and how often should i feed it? How long does it take for it to fully open up? Would a pair of clowns help it acllimate? Finally, What clowns will it host?

I would have left my lights out for at least 24 hrs.

I would feed some small krill after a week just to see if it is sticky. If so I would only feed once a week if even that.

There is no telling how long it will take to open up.Could be an hour could be a few days.

Yes a clown pair will help it settle in.

Sebae Anemone is a common host for the following Clownfish species: Cinnamon, Clarkii, Maroon, Percula, Pink Skunk,Sebae, Tomato, Yellow Stripe Maroon.

I would turn off the halides, especially since it was under PCs.

What halides do you have? Wattage, Color temp and reflector.
What size tank?

I would suggest putting some window screening b/t the tank and the lights (( can use some egg create to support the screening )). I like to use 3 layers and remove a layer each week.
