Need advice on 475 build starting

TangsRule

New member
I just bought a 475g 3yr old oceanic DT & stock Oak stand so I can eventually transfer 3ea running 100gal mains into...(it's still in the red truck)

It's 96"x36"x36" and will be a reeftank.

Current equip inventory less fish/corals/inverts/cuc:

6ea 250w 20k lighting units
250#+ liverock
250#+ substrate (silver shores aragonite & curhsed coral mix)

Ordered:
more substrate - same mix

Tank has 1 overflow on one side, 4 holes drilled in bottom there for in/out to sump/fuge (2in/2out), and tank has 3 holes drilled equally spaced in the center for recirculation...Outlet/inlet pipes are all 1" pvc.

Planning on one of my 100mains to become a sump for skimmer & calc reactor. And a 20 long for fuge (in use now)

My question / need help with:

What size pump do I need for recirculation in the center of the tank - gph?

Was planning Euro Reef 12-2 skimmer (lightly stocked with fish longterm) - what size pump would work best here too? 100g sump (to b made soon)

I didn't list all the small equip from the other tanks, as much of it will not play in this new system...

Money is a concern, as have a budget, but looking for reliable/quiet pumps, and please suggest brands/models that you like!

I know am gonna need more light, but am planning to supplement the 6ea 250w with 3+ 400, in time. More liverock/base in LARGE chunks needed too, but it's comming. This thing will start out as a FOWLR till very stable and I can move the contents of my 100g SPS/LPS collection

here is a pic - have all the bottom tank feedthru couplers 1" dia:

Please HELP and give advice - i do take it!

Nice tank TangRule !

1" inlet/outlet seems on the small side for such a big tank. I have four
1 1/2" drains on my 450 display. I'm also running a Reeflo Hammerhead as my return. If you stay with the same drains, a Reeflo snapper or dart should be fine. You can find Reeflo pumps pretty cheap on the for sale forums also.

Best of luck w/your build !
