Need advice on flow

I have a 72G bowfront and I'm still in the process of building the sump and overall flow. I have a 30G sump/refugium area. I was doing some research and I was thinking about buying the Quiet One 4000 for my return pump rated at about 750gph at 4ft. and a Hydor Koralia 3 for flow. I plan on using it along with a modded MaxiJet 1200 for 1600gph or 2000gph (not quite sure which propeller to use yet) and maybe my PowerSweep 20 rated at 165gph. Any advice on which combination to use for my future mixed tank?

wish i could help but im not familliar with some of those phs, sorry about that

If I were you... I would utilize your return and 2xK3's and be done with it. You would have over 34x flow thru your tank with that.

From what I've heard, the powersweeps are garbage. I'd say go with a few maxi jets. Cheap and indestructible. I'm still waiting and watching the Hydors. I've seen mixed reviews.

With your return pump and say 4 strategically placed MJ's (esp if they are modded) I'd say you're off to a great start. You can always ramp up flow as you need to depending on what corals you like to keep. I've found having spare maxijets around is always valuable. I use them in my refugium, mixing vats, on phosban reactors, I have an mj1200 on my Ca reactor. I also have a few kicking around for parts and miscellaneous duties.

I'm not sure about the rest of the stuff, but I have a standard 55 gallon sized reef.

I have a maxi-jet 1200 (among others) for flow. I thought it'd be a great idea to add the propeller thing to it. Not so good.

I put the large propeller on it and created so much flow it created a sand storm. ( it wasn't pointed down but still picked up all the surface sand). Seriously it pushed so much water I thought the tank might start moving across the floor. I swapped it out with the smaller prop and it still put out so much flow it laid the corals on their side.

I took out the props out all together and may use them later in my salt mix tub at some point.
