Need advice with possible Seriatopora issue

I have recently acquired a nice pink birds nest frag that I purchased at my lfs two weeks ago. The coral is doing great! Polyps fully extended and growing all kinds of new stubs. There's just one problem, I think a portion of one branch was damaged when I was bringing it home and algae has started to grow on the tip. What do I do?

Here's a picture of the frag:

Here's a close up of the problem area:

I have had this happen to multiple sps after I put them in the tank I would just let it grow over it. With a birdsnest it won't take very long. You could try to frag it but they are very delicate and taking out of the tank would stress it out.

Personally I'd nip the tip so that it doesn't spread, but thats just me.

It looks like the coral is RTN/STN'ing from the base up … it looks bleached. Hopefully its just from the glue

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll combine your suggestions and watch it for a while, if I notice more recession then I'll snip it.

LoJack, I noticed the tissue recession at the base after I put the coral in the tank; however, it has not progressed and the coral "seems" to be thriving otherwise. I've noticed a lot of new growth since putting him in the tank. I have an Acan 600-24b fixture that is only running at about 35 percent at peak intensity. The BN is about 4 inches above the sand on a rock receiving varied indirect flow. I'm not sure if the problem with the base was caused by the glue and/or by the clippers when it was fragged. I don't think either issue has been caused by the tank environment. I dip all my corals with Seachem coral dip as well.

Any other advice regarding the base?

Thank you both of you for your time.
