Hi there, im trying to start a new tank (moving the old one)

and im planning on doing a 40"x40"x26"(tall) tank with a central island looking

overflow.

I currently have 2 tangs, 1 dogface, 1 angel emperator, 1 salarias, 1 mandarin, 1 brown clownfish.

Will the tank be long enough for the tangs and the emperator? the overflow in the middle of the tank will probably be 7"x7"x24" tall

thanks for the advices in advance :)

No, the tangs and the emperater require long tanks due to their natural swimming tendancies. What kind of tangs do you have?

What kind of Tangs are they? A yellow tang & a blue hippo tang would probbly be ok..they could almost do a circle. If you left the aquascape open so they could go from corner to corner that might help too. Not sure about the emperor angel... those get over a foot and it might be a little cramped.

Yes the live rock will probably only cover the overflow so it doesnt stand out and will have lots of circulation.

No way for the sailfin. They are long distance swimmers. Minimum tank size for a sailfin is 240g and 8 feet in length. They get to be about a foot in length when fully grown.

I really dunno if its the sailfin. There are two kinds of "sailfin" that look almost identical, so I can't really tell. Zebrasoma veliferum, zebrasoma desjardinii

When I bought it, they told me recommended it 400l and I have more than that which is why I thought it was ok

40X40 would give you a diagonal of about 56". 47x33 gives you a diagonal of 57".

The sailfin would probably live for a few years but would not be happy... If you have pictures, we might be able to help you identify which species.
