hey guys I wanna give clownfish breeding a whirl...can someone give me the basic equipment list to start with... I need a list that contains everything I would need to see if I could get through the first batch.

you will have to start with setting up your rotifer tanks & phytoplankton.....thats the biggest thing IMO
you will have to transfer the babies to a holding tank with a air stone and heater....this is just a few things to start...

ok sounds good...where do you guys recommend getting phyto and rotifiers at? I was think of getting 2-3 10g tanks as I already have a 20l.

I was thinking of cultureing my phyto in 2 liter bottles

You can buy it on ebay. I have used it from there before and had no problems. Just make sure you never get a single rotifer in your phyto culture. If you do it will reproduce and eat all of your phyto.

You can buy your starter cultures at Florida Aqua Farms...I personally don't like the ebay ones!

Yes 2 liter bottle is fine and Id use the 6500k lighting from lowes for the light...run it 7-9 hrs for the best cultures...It will green up in 6-7 days! and remember plenty of flow for phytoplankton use an airstone and turn it all the way up!
as for the rotifer culture Id split it as soon as you get it in for when 1 crashes...and yes it will crash this is just a learning curve...I prefer to used water out of my tank for the rotifers, its more established and they can survive better IMO.. You will need a plankton collector to make sure nothing gets into the water of the rotifer tank and eats all the rotifers! and make sure the air stone for the rotifer tank is a small bubble (very slow) they are fragile and anymore than that will kill the culture!

Don't culture phyto

Google Reed mariculture, call Kathy ask them for nano3600 and rotifers.

the nano 3600 is a lot easier i agree. get the book clownfishes by joyce wilkerson it will help you bunchs,

nano is definately better for culturing rotifers but I like the live phytoplankton to add to the larvae tank, I think its better for the babies and less polutant.IMO
