My plumbing goes 5' drop from DT- 14' horizontal run- 6' drop to sump on floor in basement. My return plumbing runs parallel to this as well. I have way too many elbows but it works for my setup.

What are you using as your return pump?

I know that glassholes.com sells bulkheads, but like I said, when I plumbed my fuge and frag tank, I just used threaded adapters and bushings from Lowes and siliconed them into place. I was in a rush and would suggest buying actual bulkheads. Use an O-ring or rubber seal to make sure your bulkhead is water tight.

Any body out there ever drill a 30 gallon tank? Can I drill the sides? If so rather than me buying a holesaw bit, if somebody has one that they would be willing to let me borrow I'de be more than happy to offer a few bucks for wear and tear. Thanks guys

Drilling isn't that hard, just make sure you go slow. Use plumber's putty to make a pool for the water. Start drilling on an edge to get a groove, so the bit doesn't travel all over your tank. Slowly tilt it over until you get it flush. Let the weight of the drill do most of the cutting, don't push it through the glass. Tape the back side, and put a towel on the bottom so when you do break through it doesn't land with any force on glass. Change the water in your pool every minute or two, and you'll be through in about 5 minutes or so. If you need help, just let me know. Make sure you check with the manufacteror to check that the glass isn't tempered. I've read about some small tanks being tempered, even on the sides, so you want to make sure that's not the case with yours.

Thanks everybody! I'm leaveing for a trout fishing trip tomarrow at about 6:00am so if you don't see any responces from me in the next three days, that's why. But please keep the tips coming so that I have alot to read when I get back.
