Why were you freaking out about the snail? It was likely a good CUC, if it wasn't empty.

Aiptasia is a pain, but not the end of the world. The main thing is to be diligent and kill it as soon as you see it. They can get outa hand if ignored.

There are many ways to combat them. I use Aiptaisia-X , but it usually take a couple hits to kill it. I take joy in dumping that stuff down their throat. :fun4:

Because thats what people do now.. Freak out and kill it because they think you only have seconds after discovery in a tank until it starts wreaking havoc and its presence becomes irreversible..
Duh...:worried2: :)

After being in this hobby for 50 years, it seems salt water people certainly do seem to get excited easily. Freshwater hobbyists have terrible pests as well - ever see a argulus fish louse the size of a dog tick attack a discus? Or the entire bottom of a fry tank covered with hydra?

I believe salt water hobbyists have the notion they can control every aspect of their aquarium. Plus, the expenses in salt water are many times higher. Maybe that's why many (not all) salt water aquarists have a tendency to burn out after about five years. Many freshwater hobbyists are in it for life.

I think it is because treating something is a lot easier. You can add almost any drug to the DT. If it wipes out biofilter, no problem! You can make 90% water changes for 4 weeks and it will not take more than 10min a day. SW, different story.

Yea true, you dont have to be mixing salt and getting the correct salinity, and you have a risk of stressing and killing off your coral that you paid so much for
