I'm running a 750W power inverter and the tank is slowly moving up from a low of 72F- however, the thing runs off my car so I'm worried if the outage lasts into the night. If I can't get my hands on a generator then I may ask for space to store a half dozen of my favorite colonies or frags.
By the way - stupid question - but can I keep my car running with the inverter for as long as it has gas? Or do I need to shut it down periodically?
Last summer when we were out for a week, I was able to run SIEO 850 for 6 hrs before my battery would die. I would try a Maxijet and small 50 watt heater.
I've just kept the car running because I didn't know how long the battery would last. Pretty emmbarassing for an engineer. I'm running 300W heater to get the temp up so once it stabilizes I'll turn the car offf and see how long it lasts.
You should be fine running your car for as long as you need it. I had to do it for about 6 hours last year- Cars are made to run for long periods of time so it shouldn't be a problem....Just leave your garage door open enough for exaust fumes to get out. I ran a sequence dart and a 300 watt heater off mine for quite some time with no problems. If all else fails I could hold on to some stuff for you....
Also, if you take a maxijet and put that tube on the output that enables an airline to attach, you can let it suck air and keep it more oxygenated. Not as good as the main pump but it hardly uses any wattage.
