I am running a new SPS tank and would like some input on how slow I need to go on adding frags to my tank. Dry rocks were cured Oct-December. I then filled my tank in January and finished the cycle.
Current parameters are:
Temp: 78
Salinity: 1.025
PH: 8.2
Alk: 8.6 (Has been slowly increasing from 2-part dosing - from 8.0-8.6 over week or two.)
Calc: 390 (Has been steady but trying to build with 2-part dosing.)
Mg: 1200
Nitrate: 10 (has been declining over the past couple of weeks)
PO4: .02
I am dosing B-ionic 2-part daily and testing daily to get a feel for my tank. I am also running GFO in a reactor and this has brought my PO4 down from .06 to .02 as of yesterday. The day before it was .03 so I seem to be in a good range.
2 weeks ago, I added 4 small SPS frags and I have 3 small frogspawn, a birdsnest and 2 clowns on top of that. My corals are already growing so the tank seems to be healthy.
My question is - when can I add more frags? How far should I space out my adds?
I guess I should also add a CUC now? I have a shallow sandbed (about 1.0-1.5 inches of Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. The tank still has diatoms in the sandbed and on the rocks. Also some green algae film on the rocks. No string or hair algae and no cyano - yet.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks!
