I just put two acros in my tank two days ago. They both look like they have lost tissue starting at the base, but only on one area. its not like the entire base started loosing tissue, its just in one area. Not sure if something is eating them, or if it is tissue necrosis. I'm new to SPS so would love some advise. I do have a flame angel. Do i need to get rid of him? I've seen him pick at some corals but not like devour anything. Please help

Blow off the coral with a turkey baster and see if any acro eating flat worms come off. They might have came in on the new corals.

A little more info on your system will help guide in the right direction on how to figure out what the problem is.

Hi guys, my signature includes my tank equipment. However, I change about 35 gals of water every week to every other week. I use the rscp salt. My water tests reveal that my No3 are 5, Calcium at 450, alk at 8.5, Mag at 1350, temp at 79, K at 400, iodine at 0.06, and i'm not sure about iron. I use chempure elite and add NO3/PO4x daily at 5ml. I have a refugium with cheato and a deep sand bed in both refuge and DT. I also use microbacter 7 weekly, and just bought the red sea coral colors kit along with all the different bottles to dose A-D, which I will do as needed. I have a ATO, so salinity stays stable. What else should I be doing?

> Calcium at 450, alk at 8.5, Mag at 1350,

You just added these corals a few days ago, have you done a water change since? RSCP mixes to around 12 KH, sometimes higher. Have you tested the new water, and tank before and after water changes to make sure you're not spiking KH during a change? Just a thought, but might not be related to any issues you're having.

If it is necrosis you can stop and reverse it by dipping in iodine for several days. You can identify if it's RTN/STN by seeing if the white area is slightly lower (as if skin is missing) than the area above it.
