Need help adjusting skimmer (Octopus 110 NW)

I have an Octopus 110 NW Skimmer. I really need help adjusting this thing. I know to slide the telescoping tube up and down is the way to adjust it. The problem is those adjustments take so long to change. I have gotten cup fulls of skimmate, but it seems really wet. The color is a light green. Not the dark green we are after. Right below the collection cup you can see where the water level is in the skimmer. Any suggestions on how far up or down on this section the water level should be?

Some skimmers won't really skim dry very well due to the pump size & needlewheel design.

How long does it take to fill the cup at your current level? Hours?Days?Weeks?

Get a gate valve and mod it. The riser tube is silly and difficult to make small changes. Also, is the skimmer new? If so, let it run just below the bottom of the black neck part for a week or two, that's about how long it took mine to start working. If not new, I ran the water level about half way up that little void area under the cup.

It will fil the cup in a couple of days. Like I said, it is a light green almost dilluted color. I guess that's al least something though.

Theres nothing wrong with skimming wet, just be aware that all that water coming out of your system will slightly affect your SG over time. A lot of people skim as wet as possible. Some people will even skim like a gallon of water out of their system every day and top off with new saltwater while dripping kalkwasser. This method probably takes more monitoring though.
