Need help decide which model Tunze

Sorry I have not really done much research in the different type, but which wavebox? and how much are they. I usually see people talkin bout the 6000's models withe controllers.

Wavebox is really cool, but is over $500.

I would get 2 x 6100's with multicontroller(6095) for your tank.

And, with the wavebox you'll still need 1 6100. What are you gonna keep in this tank? SPS, LPS?? Sand or BB?

Dave

I'm just going by what Roger who helps design the equipment. The wavebox is a an addition to powerheads, not replacement.

Seriously speaking. You can watch the water motion provided by the Wavebox...you will notice that all the water in the tank is moving. The argument is that the Waveboxe just keeps everything in suspension, but that another powerhead or two is required to move the water. If the water was just seasawing in the tank I would agree. However, just watch the particals moving in the tank with just the Wavebox. You will notice that not only do they stay in suspension, but that the is also very good circular motion provided by the Wavebox alone. Now, if you have critters in your tank that require move then this...then by all means the Tunze Streams are the best! But for normal water motion and circulation the Wavebox is all you need.

Mark,

I have never even seen one in person, like I said, I was just referring to the other threads on a very similar topic. What're you keeping in your tank? It's hard to generalize that the wavebox will be ok for him when you don't really know what he's gonna be keeping.

Agreed. I am talking for general circulation and water movement. Some critters may have more specialized water flow requirements...then other equipment should be used.

I tend to find in this hobby that people tend to overdo everything, and that the recommendation of additional Steams with a Wavebox is probably overkill for 90% of the hobbyists.

The Wavebox is truly an unbelievable product when it comes to water motion.

The first question is what are you going to keep. If your going to keep SPS corals then I would suggest you start with one or two 6000 with the 7095 controller. See what kind of flow you get with them. If you get enough then there is no need to go bigger, if on the other hand you feel you donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have enough flow then you can simply replace the transformers from the 6000's with the transformers for the 6100ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s. This will upgrade the 6000 to 6100 and it wonââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t cost you any more than if you get the 6100ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s in the first place. I hope this makeââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s sense. HTH

The Tunze Wavebox is a 6100 inside a box with a frequency controller...tune to the resonance of your tank and watch the h2o move!

Ya it makes sense, but how do I decide when is enough? Will I notice something different about the tank that would want to make me say thas enough water movement?

Depends on what you keep in the tank. In my 180 gal the wavebox provides more then enough water movement...for my mostly fish tank.

I am looking to keep corals. I have not decide what kind, but I want get the right tunze so I have no restrictions.

Depending on what corals you decide to keep you could have too much flow. In addition, with a sand bed, the flow could really stir things up. You should really plan out what you want to keep first.

Well some things, that I know I will probably get are zoainthids, anemone, xenia, mushroom, and maybe later change to lps and sps
