need help from female reefers

is it safe to be in your tank while pregnant? have any of you taken care of your tank while pregnant? i have 60 gallon with all HOB stuff and my husband really doesn't know how to take care of the tank. was wondering would it be easier for me to use an external overflow box to a sump? or cont. the way i am going? i wanted to upgrade to a 150+, but i can't 'til later cuz i have nother lil one on the way.

I would think that you are fine taking care of your tank while pregnant. Just make sure you use gloves when working in the tank, long ones that cover your arm as deep as you might go.

First of all, congrats I think you're fine, but I understand your concerns - we're trying, but I'm not pregnant yet and already making plans for how to deal with things. I agree with wearing gloves just to be safe, and I think it would be a good idea to start teaching your husband some of the basics. Label all your plugs, indicate which piece of equipment does what, what to do if X or Y happens... so that just in case you're exhausted, or otherwise don't feel up to doing something he can step in.

ooh I would not mess around my tank if I were pregnant, well not with out gloves. I'm allergic to my torch and hammers,
I feel you about trusting your tank to someone else even if it is your husband, but there will come a time that you wont be able to reach everything, and you should not lift anything over 5 lbs. and I think the chemicals from the test kits may make you sick.

I suggest just letting your husband take over the tank chores if he is willing. Or at least let him do the things you shouldnt.

ok, thanks, but since my tank isn't drilled i should be good with the external overflow and sump, right? atleast until i can upgrade. ok i think i need to go out and buy some gloves cause i haven't been using any. i use medical gloves when i play with my zoo's. good luck on trying to get pregnant acblinky. i have a 2 1/2 yr old and man is he a handfull....lol he is my lil helper when it comes to the tank. he likes to magfloat it.
