So I'm about to buy the marsaqua 300w 32" fixture for my 90. I asked the seller what lenses were on the light and got this reply

'Hi friend.

The white color's lense is degree. the blue and red are degree. But we add secondary light to this light.

So the lense of the whole light is 60 degree. Hope this information can help you.

Kind regards,

MarsHydro'

I know it says 60, but what does all the talk about degree mean. Thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if they use 60 degree lenses even though almost every other seller uses 90 degree. The MarsAqua has 3 watt leds but the power supply only puts out 188 watts to 100 leds... that's only 1.88 watt/led. So the 300 watt led fixture is pretty much a marketing lie. Other suppliers use 2.2 or 2.5 watts/led. Given the lower power, it may be that the 60 lenses make up the difference. But in a 24" deep tank, 60 degree lenses will also reduce the footprint of light by about 50% or more. Your 32" fixture with 90 degree leds at 8" to 12" over a 24" deep tank should make a footprint of about 2'x 4' (roughly) which is 8 sq ft. With 60 degree lenses you are at something more like 18"x 40" which is only 5 sq ft. It's not a problem, but just be aware.

Hmm, well that changes things a little. I've read plenty of people have used these on a 90 and grow everything. I just need it for LPS and an anemone

I've seen many pics and videos of this light. I just want the 32" so I only have one light to mount and not four plugs. I want the two 165 for best coverage but that's a lot of plugs

That makes sense. I'm assuming they use the same lenses for both models, so if my blues and whites are 60 or 90 or whatev then yours would be too.

congrats. You'll like them.
I like mine more since I popped the optics off the reds and greens, might want to do that before you hang them. Another good mod is replacing the fans with something quieter for like $10.
Have you figured out how you'll mount them?

Right now I have a diy canopy in mind. Basically a box with a ledge inside to sit on the rim of the tank. Then a plank lengthwise in the middle to hang them from. Thanks for the info
