Hi have a Nikon d90 I have a portrait lens 50mm 1.8f just wondering on what kind of set up I could use to pick up night time lighting when blues greens and reds pop. I can't seem to take a picture to what I'm actually looking at

I'm not a pro and I shoot Canon, but it just takes playing with the camera. That's what I did and it took me a while lol. Tripod is a must though because you have to have the shutter speed so low any movement messes it up. Not sure if this helps you or not though. I also shoot raw images and edit them in adobe, seems to help.

Due to the lighting in the typical reef it takes some work. Do you have access to Lightroom or Photoshop? If so you should shoot and save the pic as a RAW file. Gives you a lot more options to adjust the image.
