sooooo, I got two peppermint shrimp today to take care of a few little aiptasia that were just starting to grow. They aclimated fine and hid out until dark. After the lunar lights came out they started to explore the tank and eat like crazy. All was well in my tank or so I thought until about 5 minutes ago when I look over to see one of my two Nassarius snails eating one of my brand new shrimp!

anybody know anything about this??? are my snails not Nassarius? I"M praying my other shrimp is smarter than the dead one and runs like hell or something.

So did my shrimp keel over in the 30 minutes I wasn't looking at the tank and the snail took advantage or is it possible that this isn't a Nassarius snail?

You sure that wasnt a molt?

That would be my first thought. The stresses of shipping and tank transfers often trigger a molt. So it's not unusual for a newly added shrimp to molt right away.
