Need help with bloated fish

My Yellow Candy Hogfish is looking bloated all over his body and the scales are kind of poking out due to being bloated, they're not laying flat. I will get a picture a bit later today if needed.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be, and if so what causes it?

Nobody has any thoughts on it?

Sad to say that he is now hiding in the rocks and didn't even come out for feeding time.

I've never seen anything like this. You could only see the extended scales from side view or behind. If you looked at it from the side it looked normal accept for it was bloated, not just the belly but the whole fish. Not terribly bloated but if you knew the fish you would notice it. I've got a feeling he won't be alive in the morning but time will tell. Hopefully he passes whatever it is that he's got. :(

At that stage it's likely already too late. The bloating is likely a result of kidney failure, usually brought on by an internal bacterial infection.

Best is to isolate the fish ASAP before it may infect others.
