Need help with fit of Eheim pump cover

Hi,

I cracked the pump cover on an Eheim 1048 pump and bought the replacement from Marine Depot, part # 74.4035.9. I tried to put the pump cover on but it doesn't seem to fit. I can push it in about 1/16 of an inch but it needs to go in a good 1/2 inch to twist around the locking tabs. I'm reluctant to push too hard because I cracked the original pump cover by pushing a fitting into the inlet too hard. Are there any size issues with these pumps and pump covers? Any ideas on how to get the cover on?

Thanks,
Joe

Hi,

Thanks for your post, I noticed when I was putting one together here that the ceramic shaft was not going in properly, it wasn't going into the smaller hole in the rubber stopper part of the cap. Just make sure that the ceramic shaft goes in completely, that should solve your problem. Feel free to give us a call if your still having trouble.

I hope this helps,

Hi Walter,

One of the things I tried was fitting the cover without the shaft. Still had the same problem. It really doesn't seem to fit. I'd be happy to ship you the pump and cover at my expense to let you see the problem.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the reply, if you could private message or call me directly at 714.385.0080 with your information ( order number or first and last name) I'd be more than happy to provide you with an RMA ( Return Merchandise number) if you wish to send the item back for me to look at and trouble shoot the problem with your pump. Let me know how you wish to proceed.

For anyone wondering about buying from Marine Depot, they provided amazing service on this problem. I ended up shipping the broken pump to Walter so he could try to figure out the problem. Walter figured out what I had done, fixed the problem, provided a spare part at no cost, and shipped the pump back to me, again at no cost. He saw that I had also broken the pump shaft, tried to find a replacement on hand there, and when he couldn't he told me where I could order the part. Oh yeah, two phone calls from Walter and a letter included with the returned pump describing what he had done and when the pump would be shipped back to me. Unbelievable service on a problem that was my fault. Wow.
