Need help with my 7 juvenile clowns

So I still have my 7 juvenile clowns in my 20h that I moved them to I need to get them to a system that is tied to my main setup. How big of a tank would you recommend moving them to? They have never been seperated, and seem to get along reasonably for now.

7x3.5=24.5 would a 30g half moon work for them if raised all to adults?

The other option is moving the Female to a new tank and putting them all in my 240, BUT with the flow i keep in there i don't see that going well for clowns that are used to airstones for water movement... :)

If there's 7 juvis in a 20 now and you move them to a much larger tank they probably will begin to spar a little bit. Right now the space is so small there's not enough territory to fight over, but in a larger system they'll likely begin to display traits of dominance.

Are you keeping them forever or just until sellable size?

If you're just keeping them until sellable size, a 20H is plenty big enough for 7 clowns. The key is NOTHING in the tank to fight over. No heater, no rock, no airstone, etc. Anything introduced is "claimed", and in turn, fought over.

There isn't currently anywhere I'd take them to sell as the lfs are Pretty bad and me and my local club aren't best of buds so the plan was to just keep them.

Im curious what answer you are going to get!

I plan on doing a 40b, 10 clowns (same batch) and a bunch of BTA. :)

i dont agree with leaving the tank bare for all the juvi's to live in. i loose more in a barren tank then i do with 6 or so pvc elbows for them to hide in. few spare pvc peices goes a long way to keep them happy and a place to hide. i got 6 babies in a 24g nano, but they get a rbta to play in.

I got 6 Onyx babies about 1/2 to 1/3 inch is size in a 24 g cube reef. As the get older and bigger at about 4 months later they start to fight. I did not want to loose any of my valuable babies so I separate them by pairs of them as they get larger and start fighting. By 6 months they all paired in 3 tanks

i always put 4 or 5 pvc fittings the nursery tank. i've been told that when a big group of juve's huddle for security/shelter. they can actually smother eachother and some may not survive the huddle. so with enough hiding places, it will split up the groups. but keeping 7 clowns in a small tank will not last long term.

What happened with me when I put five Perculas into a 75gl tank was that one was killed, two paired up, one was left alone, and the last one was bullied to the point where I got him out of there. I also took out the one that was left alone and he paired up with the bullied one in a ten gallon tank.

As others have said, once they have something to fight over it doesn't matter what size tank it is.
