Need help with my Moni

Here is a before and after picture of an encrusting montipora that has been in my tank for 9 months. The polyps were extended for the first month and I have been trying to get them to extend back out ever since. Any suggestion?

Looks like a lighting issue... notice on the left side of the picture it is white and slightly bleached, but on the right side it is darker and you can definatly identify polyps...

what are you running?

What are you param's? Without knowing those everything is a guess but if you put a gun to my head I would say lighting Monti's just don't need much

The whiter portion was the underside before I moved it to this new location. In its previous location, the top was uniformly brown.

I am running 3 250W 10K XM's with 2 48" VHO.

Parameters: Phosphate - undetectable, Nitrate ~2, PH 7.8, Alk 10.4, Sal 1.025, Mag 1340.

When did you switch your halides last and how long did you run the last batch?

Looks like lighting bleach to me as well... Run carbon?

I switched out the bulbs in April. They were used for about 12-13 months before I switched them.

Yes I do run carbon in a Phosban reactor.

Thats your problem then.. After about 8 months with Those bulbs,, the intensity drops Big time.. when you swapped your bulbs did you leave your photo period just like it was ? Or did you turn the timers back a few hours each day?

When I switched out the bulbs, I kept the same photoperiod. I see what you are getting at, but all my other corals seemed to acclimate just fine. Are you saying that you think the monti was bleached from the intensity of the light change?

IMO ... absolutely...
Montiporas seem to get really ticky when you go mess with their light sorce...

Id move it to the bottom for starters.
