I have a yellow tang which has been in quarantine for 5 weeks with a baby hippo tang in a 30 gallon. have been treating with cupramine as the hippo was constantly scratching for the first 2 weeks of quarantine. We just started diluting the copper through water changes because the hippo was no longer scratching. The yellow has also been very healthy looking ...everything seemed fine...then suddenly he is breathing heavy and his lips look a little pink in colour. He still has a great appetite. Is this a sign of flukes or maybe long term effects of the copper? Anyone have any idea?
salinity is 1.023
PH 7.9
ammonia 0.18
temp 79
nitrates 0
50% water changes every 2 days

Use Prime to remove the ammonia. Any traceable amount is dangerous. I would continue water changes to remove copper.

Starting to think it is a bacterial infection caused by the Cupramine weakening his immune system.
What is your opinion besides using Prime?

thanks
