Need help with Solorensis Wrasse

Hey guys! Me again with yet another thread on me needing help on quarantining a fish. So far i'm 0/1 with one returned fish. Right now I have a terminal male solorensis wrasse in a 10 gallon quarantine. Paramaters are good.
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20
(Tank was cycled with bio spira before and left fallow for three weeks)
Temperature: 78-82 F
Salinity: 1.018
Additional params can be supplied if you need it!!
Heres the story:
I got the wrasse on Nov 21 almost two weeks ago. He has done great so far, chowing down on PE mysis, and Hikari mysis. However for the last two days, hes been hiding. A lot. Yesterday he came out to eat but today he didn't move. I know hes alive since his eyes are moving and hes breathing. When I go near to look at him he starts breathing hard but oxygenation shouldn't be a problem as the hob filter is falling a good 3" and there is an airstone inside. I am testing for ammonia every other day and there is an ammonia badge in the qt also. HOB filter has a full tray of seachem matrix as well as two pieces of dry rock in the tank and three pvc pipes. As far as I can see he has no diseases on him, although he seems to be scratching on the rocks so maybe flukes? I have prazi on hand. I will be attaching pics in the next post.

Any help would be awesome!!!
Also acclimated with matching salinity to source and floated to equalize temps.

From the pics I cannot see anything obvious. Flukes are a possibility and the prazi should take of them or other internal issue.

It seems you have done things right so far. FWIW mine would and will periodically go hide out. As long as he comes out to eat I would not be to concerned yet.

Thanks tony!!! Good to talk to ya again!
Not running prazi currently but if he is still scratching and doesn't eat today I'll start prazi.
That's good. He seems to be a lot more active today and ate a little. I can watch him so much more on the weekends.

He used to eat right in front of me, but now he won't eat while anyone is watching! I sat my phone a couple feet away and took a video and he was chowing down on PE mysis but when I came back he immediatley hid.. Any reason you guys can think of?

Just tossing some stuff out there.

Maybe the first few days he was just stressed and "pacing". Now maybe he is calming down and just laying low.

Since he is eating and I assume your water is in good shape, I would not worry to much.

Thanks!!
Yeah water is almost perfect other than 10 nitrates but eh.. I'll do a 50% this weekend.
Can't express the gratitude once again tony!

No problem. We all learn and hopefully pass it along.

I think I will be setting up my QT after the new year. I am really leaning towards a pair of bellus angels.

I currently have a solor wrasse in qt too for a little over a week. I do tank transfer as part of my qt. Mine has been eating and out and about. He is easy for TTM - hides in his piece of pvc an I can scoop him up in the pipe.

Because solar wrasses make a mucus cocoon to sleep, I do often walk in on him in the morning lying on the bottom and all that moves is his eyes. He is liveliest later in the day. My former McCoskers wrasse ws a late rier and the first in the tank to hunker down for the night.

Maybe you are just catching him napping?

That actually could be a possibility.. A lot of the time all he moves are his eyes but I thought I'd be able to see his mucous cocoon. Apparently not. If that is the reason it'd make me feel a whole lot better. Could you shine a little more light on your experiences? I'd love to hear them!

I fear he has ich.. I was taking pictures of him with my new DSLR and I see little spots on him, that look a lot like air bubbles.
Anyone got anything? I'll attach the photo in the next post.

I really can't tell much from the pic. I did not see if you ran the wrasse though TTM or not. If not I would run him through regardless.

Yeah.. It showed up a little clearer on the camera but I'll get a much better one today. The bubbles look clear, actually a lot like air bubbles and the wrasse is almost at week 5.. That seems a little long for ich to magically appear correct?

I would say it is unusual but not unheard of for ich to show up 5 weeks later. My reasoning is if the ich was in the gills then it may have reproduced enough for a large infection.

From your previous posts it does not seem like the wrasse was exhibiting any obvious symptoms.

It is still tough to tell from the pic. If it is air bubbles I would think they would dissipate over fairly quick. If it is ich the should disappear within 2-3 days. I would try to keep an eye out on certain spots and see if they go away.
