Need ID on hermit please quick!

I went to the LFS and I was looking for red hermits but I ended up with these because it was all he had.

It is a hermit that has orange tips on his feet and by his eyes?

What is he? Is he reef safe? Will he go okay with the nassarius snails as long as the crabs are bigger?

I plan on putting 4 of them in my 2.5gal pico w/ nassarius snails

All crabs are omnivores and scavengers and to some degree none are completely "reef safe".
The difference between the species boils down to their size; the smaller the specimen the less damage it is capable of inflicting.

without a pic its impossible to ID a hermit. why would you buy something without asking the LFS if its safe? i would say 4 of any kind of hermit in a 2.5g tank is to many. but being that nassarius snails stay in the sand 90% of the time, hermits dont usually mess with them.

hermits have a bad rep. I have lots of them, sometimes they are not pleasent. But I gotta say out of the 100+ I started with a year ago 50 of them are dead and they have yet to kill anything. So they get a score of 0-50 with my reef tank. They might rob and scavenge but I havent had any get to anything larger than a silver dollar. I have red legs and blue legs plus a few individuals.

This is the crab I figured it out..

The LFS said it was reef safe but you can't really trust them around here.
