Crushed coral is a pretty good substrate. It depends on what kind of system you want to run. Anyway, I have some aragonite sand but I am in Sherman Oaks. So I am not sure if you want to drive that far. I have about two 5 gallon buckets. Not sure what I would want for them but pm me if you are interested. I am looking for large live rock pieces though. So I am up for trades.

I have some sand, not sure how
much it its but I think its a good amout.

do you vac. it when you do water changes? I heard it a nitrate trap. and sand is so much better?

Yeah you should vac crushed coral if you use it as a substrate. But sand can be a nitrate trap as well if you don't maintain it.

Personally I think crushed coral is easier to deal with because vacuuming it is easy and you don't have to worry about the current pushing it around and irritating corals lower in the tank. But I use sand because I like the look.

There are several kinds of methods you can use. The easiest is probably bare bottom but it depends on what kind of things you are going to keep in your tank. What sort of tank are you setting up? What corals and what fish?
