I have a 240 gal. tank, 60x30x30. I have had 250 watt metal halides for ten years or more. The ballast has burned out on one side this weekend. I knew this was coming because of them being so old. Now I need new ballast and lights. Not sure of what to get, so much has changed since Ive had to shop for them. Can you please recommend lights for my tank. I keep softies, and large pylops and a few hard corals. I would like to keep more hard corals. I have rose anemonies that have split so many times that Ive just given some away. I dont want to harm them. Thank you!

not sure... if I keep the halides then I will bump to 400's but afraid of the heat problem. I have been starting to read about led's just not convinced yet.

well there's only mh, t5,led right? To me if mh I'd stay 250s. you could keep anything with those unless they're mounted real high off the water. lumatek ballasts really will light em up.

400s are an awful lot of heat and power for me. I'd really think on leds. the AIs are really awesome. fully programmable, dimmable, mooncycle, lightning storms, upgradable, low energy, about 75watts per unit. if i had the money it would be those hands down. mho of course.
