Need recommendation for 125g

I have a 125g (5ft long) that was orginally going to use 2 3/4" SS for circulation and wavemaking.. now i'm reconsidering it for a Tunze Stream.. i plan to have mixed coral (softies, mushrooms, sps, etc.) with some fish.. there will be at least 2 hippo tangs (read that these guys like high flow)

so far i have a mag 9.5 with a scwd as the return.. this will be changed over to just a spray bar for the return..

the spec's on the Tunze web site says the stream kits for tanks of 200g or more.. which would be the best setup for my tank (1 pump, 2 pumps, etc)?

also, i don't like to have a lot of equipment showing in the display, so could i use the decor stream rock? if so, does the pump position at the lower part of the tank, verses the top?

thanks

For your set up I would probably use one 6000 Stream and 1 7400/2 on a multicontroller. 2 6000 Stream could also work. If you position your rock correctly you can make the pumps invisible. Just go high in the center on each side. If you use the Stream rocks they should sit about midway up at the top of a rock structure. This gives good flow, helps them blend in and makes them servicable.

Between the two combos, 6000/7400 and 2 6000's, what are the differences in what they produce?

i'm trying to picture the effects of each combo.. seems to me, the 2 6000's would create a broad type wave that crashes in the center of the tank, while the 6000/7400 combo would have a sharp focused stream hit a broad wave.. i'm still trying to learn your technology

Two 6000's would produce a diffuse flow, each pumps flow would carry 4ft max. This form of flow is preferred for Leather corals and SPS. The flow would not carry the full length of the tank and likely the best mode would be an alternating pulse mode. The 7400/2 produces a stronger flow which would carry 6ft. This would be effective for creating a stronger area of flow near the top, and a more gentle flow zone in the area farthest from the Stream. This will give you a good differentiation of flow zones so you have a high flow zone combining both types of flow which would be a good area for the SPS, the low flow area with a cross current on the far side from the Stream would be better for LPS and anemones. The softies could be placed in the center region of the tank.
