Need Some Advice on Tangs for my SPS Reef

Folks,

Looking for some feedback on this... I have a 120g (48x24x24) SPS tank with a Blue, Yellow and Kole Eyed Tang. Everyone gets along great, and all 3 are doing really well in my tank. I would like to add a Sailfin Tang, but not sure if my reef is big enough for him? The Tang is 5" currently.

Thanks,
L3

No way would I add a sailfin to that size tank even if it were alone, they just get way too big too fast.
As it is you are pushing it w/ the tangs you have, so if you are having success w/ those, I wouldn't do anything to disturb that.

+1!

You are full with what you have, more than full IMO. But hey it is your tank and your money so I will not suggest you do anything to disturb the peace in your tank. Just keep an eye out for any aggression increase between the tangs as they grow.

I agree.

Hi, I also have a 120 gal 4x2x2 tank with 5 fish, 2 blue (hippo) tangs medium, an orange shoulder tang juvi, emporer angel juvi and a Heniochus Black & White Butterflyfish small. To me this is a full tank as the fish will get much larger in a short time, I am not even going to add anything else except maybe a couple of fish that stay small - like wrasse, gobi, etc.

bad idea even if the tank was big enough. the sailfin will get picked on by the yellow and blue from the start.

The Blue Hippo tangs, Orange Shoulder tang and Emperor Angel will all outgrow a 120gallon tank quickly

a 120g is way too small for an emperor angel. an 8-foot 300 gallon is the recommended size for it.

hippo tangs also need an 8-foot tang due to their unique swimming characteristics.
