Need Some Job Help

I need to get some work done on my truck. The inspection runs out at the end of the month. If it does, i wont be able to drive to work in Harrisburg. Ill have to quit my job. My son will supported by my wife & i's limited savings. If anyone has a job opening up in their company, I am willing to take on any opportunities close to Millersville (ill probably be walking for a bit). I tried applying at TFP and they never called me back yet. (Over a month ago).

Thanks Guys!

PS: I love computers so a computer-oriented job would be nice.

Um, you might want to scrap your 215 project and reprioritize the money into your truck, so you can hold your job for your family. Maybe I'm missing something? I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but there appears to be financial commitments WAY more important than a new reef build at the current time.

I wish I could help with a job, but Rendell locked up all new hires indefinately. Good luck with whatever route you pursue.

Yeah, I would absolutely prioritize my family's well-being, and my transportation to and from work/possible work over any sort of reef build.

+1 for scrapping the 215 build, selling the stuff, recouping some of your costs, and getting your truck fixed so you can get to work/possible work and take care of your family.

No reef is worth more to me than my family.

PS: sorry to hear about your situation.

Selling the tank is not an option for me. I was merely asking if anyone had any jobs at their finger tips.

2turtles? Soapbox?

Selling the tank is always an option. You can't eat it, you can't live in it, and no matter how much time you spend it doesn't love you.

Maybe we didn't understand your response, but it sounds like you are putting your tank build above your family's necessities. HOPEFULLY we are wrong, and just misinterpreted what you meant.

I know we all comment on here like friends, and I am VERY pleased to see that everyone is telling it how it is! I enjoy this site and now I know why: because you all are REAL people!

I have a job, i just want a local job.

Truck is going in this week for inspection etc etc.

If you guys have anything in lancaster, id like to explore those oppurtunities.

My wife and my newborn would love it if i could be closer.

dalilgriffith,

I know you've been a security guard. Apply at Wackenhut and see if you can apply for a guard position at Thaddeus Stevens School Of Technology.. I know Wackenhut had the contract there for years, and I believe they still do.

The tech industry is flooded around here. Realize that you'll be competing with people that have schooling and 15+ years of experience for the jobs that those folks wouldn't have even sneezed at a year ago.

I have a close friend that was the VP of operations and infrastructure for a local Microsoft partner that is getting turned down for $35K a year jobs because there are simply THAT many people without work.

Best advice, find something else or really specialize in one area. Don't bother with networking or security, application development and AI are people the most stable disciplines within IT. You'll probably need an unpaid internship to get the experience you need, too - so be prepared.

Yeah, I had a job working as an assistant network admin. I got laid off. I'd really be interested in an internship. If you guys know of anything like that, let me know.

Can you provide a link to a LinkedIn profile or an online resume that summarizes your employment history, objectives and skill set? Frankly, if you're searching for a new job, a stellar resume and great experience are two of the best assets you can have.

Actually you can live in it. Better than a Cardboard box. Just not as portable! LOL

If you really want a PC related job, the best way with little experience is to contact a temp agency. You do a lot of grunt work for little pay but we all start on the bottom rung. On the plus side, many PC install projects occur at night so you can work a day job too.
The biggest problem with temping is that work is not always steady. Sometimes you drown in work and other times you are in the middle of the desert
