rommelgin: Not sure if you have done this already. Check the electric circuit breaker to see which breaker leads to which room. Depending on where you want to put your tank, you might want to find out how much electricity you will use on that location and how many breakers support that location. Also, as a safety precaution, you might want to install an GFCI power outlet to your future aquarium's outlet. You can get those for ~$12 at HomeDepot and DIY. But, turn of the breaker first before you install it.
In my situation, I had to find out the hard way that my living room and dining room are supported by one breaker. Imagine having TV, computer, lights, aquariums running at the same time. =p
